It's not easy for the TV people. Part of the problem is that they're rarely working a beat in the same way as print folks. Says one area TV reporter:
If I were down at the courthouse all week, maybe they would call me. We're only there when something big's happening, and then it's like a circus, with a gang of reporters, photographers...You can call every day, but it's not the same as seeing them around all the time.Such is life in scannerland, chasing down the big stories with a microphone in one hand and this morning's paper in the other.
